Marilyn M. Somers, 70, of Rumson, NJ passed away Friday March 16, 2012 after a brave battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in New York, NY to her parents William and Virginia Miller and lived in Cresskill, NJ and Mequon, WI before moving to Rumson in 1975. She was predeceased by her parents. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Willard C Somers; her sons, Tom Somers of Arlington VA and Will Somers, Jr. and his wife Karen of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.; grandchildren Will III and Derek Somers and her brother Richard Miller and his wife Lynne of Hilton Head, SC. Her love for family and grandchildren was deep and enduring. Marilyn was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank (Tower Hill), and served two terms as an Elder of the congregation. She was a leader in the Vision for the Hill building program, and active at the Sea Bright Beach Club. By profession, Marilyn was an English teacher. She enjoyed bridge, was good at all puzzles, and so enjoyed solving them that she entered and won competitions. A memorial service was held at 11:30am on March 31,2012 at First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank (Tower Hill) Memorial donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the church.
